Lab-grown diamonds are not simulants. Moissanite and cubic zirconia are entirely different materials — they look like diamonds but have different chemical compositions and optical properties. A lab-grown diamond is carbon, just like a mined diamond, and scores 10 on the Mohs hardness scale. On an IGI certificate, a lab-grown diamond is graded exactly as a diamond. Simulants are not.
